Background
The Department of Architecture & Sustainable Design (DASD) was officially formed in January 2013. As the name suggests, the department strives to develop architecture curriculums that contributes to the betterment of built environment by emphasizing sustainable thinking and design. Our Bachelor of Science (Hons) Architecture is a 3 years full-time accredited degree programme recognized by the Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM Part I). Our academic staff consist of qualified professional architects, specialists, as well as academic researchers, all with intensive industry experience and overseas exposures in multi-disciplinary fields. The department encourages learning-by-doing and employs a student-centered learning culture to promote the transferable soft-skills in students such as critical thinking and collaborative teamwork. DASD is actively engaged in national and international design competitions, conferences, colloquiums and other events co-organized with Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) and ASEAN Universities. Local and overseas architecture academic visitations are organized to expose our students with diverse cultures and contexts, which will contribute to the continuous improvement of their design quality and art senses. Through a holistic approach, DASD hopes to provide quality architecture education that satisfies the industry and contributing towards sustainable challenges of humanity and environment.
