Ar. Adrianta Aziz

Project Advisor

Ar Adrianta Aziz received his Post Graduate Diploma in Architecture and Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Design from Oxford Brookes, United Kingdom in 1999, after his earlier Diploma in Architecture at MARA Institute of Technology (UiTM), Shah Alam, Selangor in 1997. He is the Managing Director, AR RAD Architects PLT (Petaling Jaya) & Principal of Adrianta Aziz Architect. Active in the architecture fraternity, Adrianta is a Corporate Member of PAM since 2012, PAM Council Member 2014- 2021, PAM Education Committee Chairman since 2019-2021. He was tasked by Council in 2020 to continue the journey of the PAM Resource Centre, which was to promote the Resource Centre to all PAM’s Members. He has chaired other portfolios such as PAM Resource Centre Special Committee (2019-2021); PAM Education Committee (2015-2021); PAM Media & Publication Committee (2018-2021); PAM CPD & Design Lecture Series Committee (2014-2017); PAM Youth & Membership (2014-2016); ARCASIA Deputy Chairman Education (2019-2021), PAM International Affairs Committee (2015-2021); ACAE (2014-2021) and appointed board member of PEF (2019-2021). In addition to being a professional architect, Ar Adrianta is actively involved as a Council Member for Accreditation and Architecture Education (MAPS) (2020-2023); Malaysia SESI 2020-2023 Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia; ARCASIA Malaysia Representative to Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Chiang Mai, Thailand (2019). Jaipur, India, Manila, Philippines, Peshawar, Pakistan (2018), Brunei & Jakarta, Indonesia (2017) and Taipei, Taiwan & Tokyo, Japan (2016).

Ar. IDr. Daniel Choo Heng Huat 

Project Advisor

Heng Huat is the founder and principal of HENG Architect. He is a practising architect, urban designer, and lecturer. His interest is in non-linear, parametric & prototype architecture, big data analysis, heritage conservation and archiving. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1980, Heng was educated there, receiving his postgraduate master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Design from the University of Technology, Malaysia, and attending two of his undergraduate degree in Architecture at the University of Putra, Malaysia. Heng is currently sitting in the 2020-2021 Ordinary Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM). He is the former Chair of the PAM Resource Centre Committee (2019-2020), the Co-chair of the PAM Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (2019-2021), and the PAM Membership & Youth Committee (2019-2021). Heng is a qualified Adjudicator and Mediator in construction alternative dispute resolution. Heng is also a regular external examiner and assessor for the University of Technology, Malaysia, University of Putra, Malaysia, Taylor’s University, City University Malaysia, Limkokwing University and Malaysian Institute of Art.

Ar. IDr. Dexter Y.P. Koh

Project Advisor

Ar. Idr. Dexter Koh is a Corporate Member of PAM since 2009, PAM Council Member 2016-2019, PAM Honorary Secretary 2020-21 and Corporate Member of MIID since 2017. He was tasked by Council in 2016 to re-establish the PAM Resource Centre, which was put in storage since 2011 after moving out of Jalan Tangsi. Chairing the Resource Centre Committee from 2016 to 2019, the Resource Centre was reopened in June 2018 at LG of new PAM Centre. He has chaired other PAM portfolios such as Awards & Competitions (2017-19); co-chaired Membership, Youth & Events (2016-2019), USHER (2016-17), ACE (2019-20) & RC (2019-20) and appointed board member of PEF (2019-20) and PBSB (2020-21). He was appointed Convenor for conventions: DATUM+ & KLAF in 2017 & 2018; awards & competitions: TEPGEA 2017, KLAF2019 International Ideas Competition - First Colony on Mars and Co-convenor for MBAM Centre Design Competition (2017); Chief Judge for ARCHIDEX Awards 2017 & 2018. In academia, Ar. Dexter is regularly invited as external examiner by various universities such as UPM, USCI & TU, besides Juror for ArchiTalent 2018; and actively involved in organising youth-centric programmes such as YPLAB as organising representative & Chair 2017 and Advisor for MAYAS 2017.

Dr. Nor Hayati Hussain

A graduate of the Universiti Teknologi of Malaysia, Dr. Nor Hayati is an educator, a researcher, and writer for the PAM History Book (2013), The Living Machines: Malaysia's Modern Architectural Heritage (2015) and Reviews Interviews Celebrating 60 Years of Malaysian Architecture 1957- 2017 (2017). She authored monographs successfully on modern buildings in Kuala Lumpur. Due to her interest in architectural history and theory, she founded the Centre for Modern Architecture Studies in Southeast Asia in 2005 to produce research publications and undertake research that focuses on the documentation of modern architecture's intellectual and physical heritage in Southeast Asia. She is currently the country coordinator for the mASEANa (Modern ASEAN Architecture) Project and the PAMeR project leader.

Syafikah Kamarudin 

Resource Centre Coordinator

Syafiqah is a Resource Centre Coordinator of PAM since 2018. She was tasked to administering the PAM Printed & Electronic Resources in good running order. Her first task by Resource Centre Special Committee in 2018 was to re-establish the PAM Collections Resource Centre, by compiling and coordinating printed and electronic resources of PAM after moving out of Jalan Tangsi and the Resource Centre was reopened in June 2018 at LG of new PAM Centre. She has coordinate few projects such as migrating and upgrading library management system, KOHA (2018-2019), to maintain timely, accurate data of the printed and electronic resources in order to enable the access to printed and electronic resources for the user. PAM Collections & Digitization Program (2018-Now), Masjid Jamek Preservation and Conservation Illustration (2019), Book Donation by PAM Members (2018-Now).

Associate Prof. Dr. Veronica Ng

PAM-eR Editor / Kuala Lumpur Editor / Special Collections Editor

Currently the Head of School of Architecture, Building and Design, Taylor’s University, Veronica’s teaching portfolio of 15 years at Taylor’s is evidenced by her all-rounded contributions and achievements in teaching, academic leadership, curriculum design and development and research. Her research evolves around studies on sense of place, place-identity, contemporary Malaysian architecture and design theory and methods. She is an active researcher with her works published in numerous indexed journals as well as architecture magazines such as World Architecture, Architecture Asia, Architecture Malaysia, Architecture Australia, and d+a. Her collective experiences have led to her appointment as a member in the Council of Architectural Accreditation and Education Malaysia for the session 2017-2018, and she is active in committees within the architecture fraternity such as Architecture Asia Editorial Board Committee, DOMA Initiatives Architecture Foundation. She is active in leading the expansion of network and linkages through establishing partnerships and collaborations nationally and internationally with counterparts such as BetterCities, Shalini Ganendra Fine Arts, YTL Sdn Bhd, and Aga Khan Trust for Culture.

Azeerah Mubarakh Ali 

Research Assistant / Webmaster

Azeerah is currently embarking on her career as an Assistant Architect, after graduating from the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Architecture at Taylor's University, Malaysia in July 2020. She has always enjoyed learning about modern architectural heritage in Malaysia through her academic projects, which led to her interest in working on PAM Electronic Resources (PAMeR). Azeerah has been working on PAM Electronic Resources (PAMeR) since February 2020, under the supervision of her lecturer and reviewer, Ar. Nurul Alia Ahamad and project coordinator, Dr. Nor Hayati Hussain. Azeerah has been actively involved in various architectural projects, competitions and voluntary participations during her time as an architecture student and is now pursuing her Master’s in Architecture at Universiti Malaya.

Ng Wai Ming

Research Assistant / Web Assistant

Wai Ming graduated from Universiti Malaya with a Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architecture. She is interested in Architectural heritage in Malaysia and further develops her understanding in this area through her academic projects in master degree. She was involved as a research assistant in PAM-PUO Architectural Heritage Inventory Workshop 2021 in Ipoh under the supervision of  Dr. Nor Hayati Hussain and Puan Aty Rosemary Mohd Ariffin. She continued to participate in performing data entries and webpage design for PAM Electronic Resources (PAMeR) as a research assistant under the supervision of the project coordinator, Dr. Nor Hayati Hussain in 2022.

Lee Cheng Yen

Cheng Yen is currently continuing her study for a Bachelor of Interior Architecture (Honours) after completing a Diploma in Architecture at Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is always interested in learning new things. Thus, she starts part-time working on PAM Electronic Resources (PAMeR) at the suggestion of her lecturer, Dr Nor Hayati Hussain.

Dr. Zuraini Md Ali

Reviewer / Resource Person (Kuala Lumpur Zone 1)

Dr Zuraini is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaya since 1998. She is a member of Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), member of International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), member of Malaysian Branch of Royal Asiatic Society (MBRAS) and a life member of Malaysian Historical Society, Selangor Branch.  As a Registered Conservator, Dr Zuraini involved in several conservation works throughout her career including Restoration of Dewan Tunku Canselor, University Malaya in 2001 and Restoration of Taman Sejarah Kusta Negara, Sg Buloh (Phase 1) in 2010. She received several recognition and awards in her research and consultancy works including Honourable Mention in National Heritage Awards 2004: Conservation with Adaptive Re-Use of Bargas Zakariah, Badan Warisan Malaysia in 2005. As an academician, she teaches Building Conservation studies and supervises both undergraduate and postgraduate students in various aspects of conservation and built environment especially in heritage, history and practice. She was a coordinator for UM-Liverpool John-Moores University students exchange programme (2013-2017).

Ar. Nurul Alia Ahamad

Special Collections Project Coordinator

Nurul Alia Ahamad is a Senior Lecturer at Taylor’s University, Malaysia. She is also a registered architect with the Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (Board of Architects Malaysia) and a registered Professional Technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). Prior to joining Taylor’s University, she worked in the consulting industry for several years, designing residential and commercial buildings. Her research primarily focuses on Architectural Education and Place Identity. She is a Corporate Member of the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (Malaysian Institute of Architects) and serves as PAM education committee member. She participates often in the PAM educational activities such as PAM International Architectural Education Conference 2018, KL-Modern mASEANa Student International Workshop, and PAM-eR.

Ati Rosemary Mohd Ariffin

Ipoh Project Coordinator

Ati Rosemary Mohd Ariffin is a senior lecturer at the Department of Architecture, University of Malaya with almost three decades of experience in the field of architecture education and curriculum and program development. She also tutored at the Architecture School, The Mara Institute of Technology Shah Alam and at the School of Architecture and Music, University of Queensland, Australia. She has been a committee member of PAM education committee member since 2015. She was appointed conveners and juries to many architecture related competitions and programmes. She is involved with many international and national level student exchanges. Her researches are mostly related to sustainable architecture and urban design. She is currently specialising in tourism planning and architecture. She had taught various subjects including Measured Drawings and History of Architecture.

Khairul Azmi Bin Mohamed

Khairul Azmi Mohamed has been teaching in Politeknik Ungku Omar since 2009.He graduated from UTM with Diploma in Architecture in 2001 and further his study to obtain Part 1 from UPM in 2007. He is currently at final stage to completed Masters in Green Architecture from Uitm Sri Iskandar,Perak.He has 4 years of cumulative working experience in architectural practice before joining teaching. He has been actively involved as a researcher in several publication of coffee table book "Sejarah Pekan-Pekan Kecil Negeri Perak" with Jabatan Perancang Bandar dan Wilayah Negeri Perak and engaging with Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh to proposed Ipoh Mural Arts Trail. Currently he is appointed as head of Architecture Programme, Politeknik Ungku Omar.

Noor Farhana Alias

Noor Farhana Alias has 12 years teaching experience in Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) since year 2008.She graduated from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2006. She has completed her Masters in Heritage and Conservation Management from UITM Shah Alam in 2015 and also awarded Vice-Chancellor Award due to her excellent academic achievement. She was appointed as a Program Director for Ipoh Heritage Trail, International Designfest 2019, Students’ Supervisor for Asia Young Designers Award (AYDA) Competition in 2018 and 2020 respectively. She was also involved in Measured Drawing as Mentor in Southern Thailand since 2017.

Mohd Yusri Hj Yunus

Mohd Yusri Hj Yunus holds a Certificate in Architecture from Politeknik Port Dickson in 1995 and subsequently obtained of Bachelor of Science in Architecture from University of Malaya in 2000 and currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Green Architecture. He has 10 years of working experience in several architectural practices in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor before joining Politeknik Ungku Omar in 2010. Apart from lecturing, he is currently acted as the Head of Heritage & Communication at Architecture Program in PUO, where he has been actively involved with students’ measured drawing projects, heritage collaboration works such as the relocation of Masjid Kampung Teluk Memali Kampung Gajah Perak and helped in the establishment of Perak Heritage Building Gallery with Muzium Darul Ridzuan, Perak as well as several Measured Drawing projects with Prince of Songkla University (Pattani), Thailand. He was also appointed as researcher and writer for three publication of coffee table book "Sejarah Pekan-Pekan Kecil Negeri Perak" with Jabatan Perancang Bandar dan Wilayah Negeri Perak in 2015, 2016 and 2018.

Dr. Azmal Bin Sabil is a National Award-Winning book writer in the field of Architectural Heritage in Malaysia. He obtained his Architectural Degree and Master at National University of Malaysia, and his Architectural Doctoral at University Putra Malaysia. Currently, he is a senior lecturer at Architecture Department, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). He is actively involved in architectural heritage research, including documenting the physical values and characteristics of the historical building through digital point cloud documentation.

Yusra Zulkifli

Architects Editor

Yusra Zulkifli has always been fascinated with traditional arts and crafts. After being involved in both practice and teaching in academia concurrently for more than ten years, she is now a dedicated lecturer at the School of Architecture and Built Environment (SABE) at UCSI University, Malaysia. Currently, she is pursuing her Masters in Visual Arts at University Malaya. She enjoys teaching history and theories and her design studio focuses on the arts and crafts movement.

Ts. Bashira Mohd Bahar

Special Collections Reviewer

Ts. Bashira Graduated from University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) with Master in Architecture, her design works was exhibited in KL City Library during Kuala Lumpur Design Month (2013).  She has taught in several institutions serving both Architecture and Interior Design programmes. She has been teaching in Taylor’s University, RENG College, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Erican College prior to joining SEGi University in 2018; and has managed an Interior Design Diploma Show at Sunway Velocity Mall in 2018. She is currently the Programme Leader for Architecture Programme here in SEGi University. Always has been fascinated by the imagination that young generation has and how it could change the world one day, she has conducted multiple Design Workshops and discourse to cultivate creative and critical thinking among young generations, in collaboration with several creative platform like City Lab Studio, Core Design Gallery, resonation.me and Malaysian Architectural Education Research Collective (MAERC). She has been appointed as rapporteur for Asia Pacific Urban Forum 2019 for Children & Young Assembly. She has also participated in several other forums and discussion related to urban and young generation development in Japan and Romania; whilst managing team for Architecture Workshop, MESTIKA UiTM (Angklong) and Team Baju Putih since 2010.

Nurul Anida Mohamad

Education Project Coordinator

Anida graduated with a Diploma in Architecture, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Interior Architecture and Master of Arts in Art History & Cultural Management in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Started her teaching career in 2006 and now have more than 10 years experience in academia teaching in various Universities in Malaysia. Her interest and passion towards history and theory of architecture lead her in pursuing her doctorate studies in University of Sheffield, UK. The thesis titled ‘Julius Posener and Malaysian Architectural Education: Reciprocal Influence and Intellectual Legacy’, supervised by Professor Renata Tyszczuk & Professor Peter Blundell Jones (late) at Sheffield School of Architecture. The research immerse with a wealth of original research materials and data archival. This competency allows her to work closely with the PAM Resource Centre for its re-establishment in 2018. Currently she is teaching in School of Architecture & Built Environment, UCSI University while completing the final stage of her PhD.

Raja Haliza Suhaila

Raja Haliza Suhaila graduated with Diploma from PJCAD, then continued to further study in Kent Institute of Arts, UK on B.A. (Hons) in 3D Design – Interior Architecture and Masters in Property Investment from UiTM, Shah Alam. After 12 years industrial experience in a few companies ranging from architectural based companies to design & built consultancy companies, she later ventured into academia teaching in 2004 at various Colleges and Universities in Malaysia. Passion towards design, construction, and technology, she major herself in those subjects teaching in School of Architecture & Built Environment, UCSI University.

Assoc. Prof.  IDr. Baizura Hanim Bidin

Currently working as a senior lecturer (Assistant Prof.) in UCSI University, Kuala Lumpur. Has been in the academic field for more than 20 years. Switching from the industry to teaching since 2002. Lecturing in various private institutions and involved in Built Environment programs for accreditations.  Graduated with Master of Science in Building Technology from University Science Malaysia (USM). Completed her Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Interior Architecture from MARA University of Technology (UiTM) and Diploma in Interior Design from MARA Institute of Technology (ITM). Area of interest in research on interior detailing and joineries; and human, spatial and culture context. A Registered Interior Designer with member of professional bodies of Board of Architects (LAM) and Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID).

Intan Liana Samsudin

Education Researcher

Intan Liana Samsudin is a graduate architect, lecturer, and researcher who specialises in the environment of intergenerational care. She graduated with her Master of Architecture from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and is currently a PhD candidate in the same institution. Intan is a member of Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM) and the Malaysian Association of Environment-Behavior Researchers (AMERS). Some of her collaborations project with the communities includes Jalan Alor, Keramat AU2, Rakan Bukit Mertajam, and St. Theresa Church community. She was also involved in several grant projects at the university and national levels. She actively participates in conferences and has won several awards, including best paper and best presenter. Her most recent project involves data collection for the PAM E-Resources website.

Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Nurul Hamiruddin Salleh

Conservation Project Coordinator

Ts. Dr. Nurul Hamiruddin Salleh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Selangor. He was the Head of Department of Architecture from July 2012 until June 2014 and October 2016 until December 2016. Academically, he holds a Certificate in Architecture (PUO), Diploma in Architecture (UTM), Bachelor in Architecture (UTM), Master in Conservation Studies (York) and PhD. in Architecture (USM). Professionally, he is a Registered Conservator with the Department of National Heritage (JWN) and a Professional Technologist with the Malaysian Board of Technologist (MBOT). He is also a Graduate Architect with Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) and a Graduate Member of Malaysian Insitute of Architects (PAM). He was a council member of ICOMOS Malaysia from 2018 until 2020. He has involved in various consultancy projects including the Johor Bahru Urban Forest Project, Proposed Master Plan for Azlan Malaysia in Perak, Proposed International Islamic University Afghanistan, Conservation of Masjid Sultan Alaeddin in Banting, Relocation and Restoration of Rumah Kutai Perak, IIUM, and Restoration of Rumah Melayu No. 41 Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur. His research interest includes architecture, heritage building conservation, building fire safety, building construction & technology, and architectural documentation.

Assoc. Prof. Ts Dr Siti Norlizaiha Harun

Assoc. Prof. Ts Dr Siti Norlizaiha Harun is currently lecturing at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and holding position as Coordinator Programme for MSc Heritage and Conservation Management. She received the Ph.D. in Building Conservation from the Universiti Sains Malaysia, in 2005. In 2012, she has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Heritage at the Department of National Heritage Malaysia. During the service with National Heritage Department, she has initiated the development of Historic Building Conservation Guidelines which later been applied to conservation practice in Malaysia. She is a Registered Conservator and Professional Technologist. She has wide experience in historic building restoration project and heritage tourism study. She has published numerous researches in books and journals. In 2020 she has written a book “Pemuliharaan Bangunan Warisan” published by Dewan Bahasa Pustaka. The book introductory the principles and the practice in conservation which refer to Malaysia experience.

My name is Nurhafizah binti Mohamad Saleh, I earned my Master degree (Master of Science (Built Environment) in 2022 from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) by completing the research on fire safety design. Experienced in architectural practice for 9 years at Kamal Ismail Associates and MZD Arkitek. Involved in the educational field as part time lecturer in design studio. Enjoy research field to strengthen self-skills and eager to achieve a conclusive final result. Architectural Practice at GDP Architects (Internship)  [April 2008 – June 2008] Involve in a design team of UDIM, Terengganu; specifically prepare submission drawing and details of Swimming Pool Complex at UDIM. Take part in designing a house renovation project at TTDI. Tech. Assistant at Massa Indah Sdn.Bhd (Civil & Electrical Contractor Class D) [Aug. 2003 – Mei 2004] Experience in preparing construction & electrical drawing for Schools and Dewan Seminar Gerik. Attending site meeting & inspection with basic knowledge in preparing project report. Architectural Practice at Design Nexus Architect in Alor Setar (Internship)[June 2001 – Dec 2001]. Particular training in drafting (working drawing) using ACAD and manual perspective drawings for presentation.
